Scientists and engineers rely on high-performance compilers to produce efficient code that can run on modern computers. Increasingly scientists are using dynamic programming languages like MATLAB because of the ease of programming in such systems, even though this often sacrifices program performance. The proposed project will provide scientists with a system that is both easy to use and which provides excellent runtime performance. The project will produce new compilers, virtual machines and domain-specific programming languages, all as open-source software. Compiler researchers will be able to use our platform to implement new languages and optimizations. Scientists will have a better system which will save time both in program development and in running their applications.
