Canada Research Chair in Particle Physics

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is making it possible for physicists to study the fundamental building blocks and forces of the universe. At UBC, using the ATLAS detector at the LHC, I will probe the highest energy man-made collisions, in hopes of finding signs of how the universe came to be what we see around us. Using complex analysis techniques, e.g. artificial neural networks, I will search for small signs of previously unseen particles in the enormous number of collisions, thus enhancing Canada's role in one of the world's most highly anticipated scientific endeavours.
