The proposed research program will focus on the evolution of galaxies. Using the latest advances in supercomputer technology, I will study the complex processes that take place inside galaxies and how these galaxies affect their surroundings. With innovative numerical simulation algorithms, I will simulate the effect of energy release and chemical enrichment by supernovae on the structure and dynamics of galaxies, the production of galactic outflows, and their impact on the evolution of the intergalactic medium. This project will greatly enhance our understanding of how galaxies form, evolve, and affect each others, a central question in modern astrophysics.
