The purpose-driven research program led by Prof. Berlinguette strives to increase the fundamental understanding of solar energy conversion schemes to help the translation of new discoveries into commercially viable devices. His program will focus primarily on the design, synthesis and characterization of new light-harvesting chromophores and conducting materials for applications in the dye-sensitized solar cell, and the development of efficient (photo)electrocatalysts to store this electricity as high density fuels (e.g., hydrogen).
