英文摘要
Adverse environmental stresses, such as high salinity, drought, and extreme temperatures are serious challenges affecting the distribution and yield of agricultural crops around the globe. The expected global climate changes will further increase these challenges in many areas, making improved stress resistance of crops a key factor for securing food supplies in the 21st century. My research program aims at identifying and characterizing the mechanisms underlying plant stress tolerance, both at the whole plant and cellular levels. This knowledge will enable the future biotechnological development of stress-tolerant crops, ensuring high yield under harsh conditions for a long-term sustainable agriculture.
