英文摘要
Canadians with a moderate to severe physical impairments, or who use post-surgery mobility aids to support**their recovery, continue to face daily common obstacles. In recent years steps have been taken to improve the**independence for those with a physical disability. New standards have been created, laws are written and**building codes have evolved all with a common goal in mind - improved quality of life for every Canadian.**However, even with the introduction of "accessible" manual and automatic doors, a limitation exists. Most**doors require physical engagement and negotiation. For many Canadians with a physical impairment, this**negotiation with "accessible" doors is a daunting task. The goal of the research project is to develop a "Smart"**remote door access system for person mobility and which helps create more accessible establishments, and**allow Canadian companies and institutions to better serve the customers with a physical disability.**Greenland is an integrated professional engineering and technology development enterprise. Corporate business**partners and affiliates are located in Canada, U.S., and EU. Since 2005. Over the past few years, Greenland has**expanded its services by partnering in the development of strategic, innovative and disruptive 'Smart'**(Internet-of-Things) technology systems and consumer - commercial products. This includes the Safe SumpTM**system (www.thesafesump.com). Greenland is also now playing a key role to help the Town of Collingwood**become a Smart Cities Community and where the municipality is supporting a number of Health and Wellness**initiatives. A current project includes a Smart water technology focus and where Greenland is serving as the**lead private partner. Therefore, as the Town of Collingwood, and all other surrounding Simcoe County**municipalities, invest further in future Health and Wellness programs. Consequently, If the proposed project**proof of the concept is achieved, then the objective is to finalize a business plan involving the University of**Guelph in order to commercialize the final product as soon as possible within Canada.
