Karma Machining & Manufacturing Ltd. Company is striving to foster a safe, healthy, productive and efficient manufacturing environment. The company provide innovative solutions to oil and gas and machining sector of Alberta. The recent focus is towards expanding its capabilities in providing new automated solutions to replace human in machine tending operations. This will provide new product to the market, job opportunities, and a potential growth to the Canadian economy. The robot assistive systems, available globally, are not autonomous enough to tackle the complex and challenging machine-tending operations. Therefore, we envision a novel self-adapting intelligent machine tending robotic system capable of adapting/re-adapting in a changing environment. The system shall be able to reconfigure and take decisions based on its vision and intelligence (AI) capabilities. The proposed research project is a step to support the immediate need of feasibility analysis and initial prototyping of robot machine-testing system. The grant will provide market analysis, feasibility study, identify the key elements and research/develop initial concepts/prototype to integrate the requirements and potential for the future machine tending operations.
