英文摘要
Living organisms are an inestimable source of inspiration for the design of nanomaterials for medical and technological applications. Amyloid fibrils have been recently recognized as promising biomaterials with unique chemical and mechanical properties. These organized nanostructures are formed by the spontaneous self-assembly of a large diversity of proteins. The overarching goal of the proposed Canada Research Chair in Chemistry of Biological Nano-Assemblies is to heighten the fundamental study of amyloid formation in order to control and manipulate self-recognition. We will take advantage of this knowledge to design functionalized protein materials and biomatrices for innovative applications in nanomedicine and biotechnology.
