Environmental conditions and environmental changes have become national and international concerns all over the world. Environmental extremes such as extreme wind speeds, rainfalls, levels of reservoirs, rivers and lakes, etc, are often related to disasters or damages to human being and our modern society.****In this proposal, we evaluate and develop statistical methods for quantifying the behaviors of environmental extremes and for predicting future rare events. The current methodologies are re-evaluated and extended. Some new methodologies are proposed and investigated, with the goal to allow for more reliable and efficient **assessment of environmental and other extremes.****
