The satellite remote sensing industry has grown into a huge global market and continues to grow year after year. The market for**remote sensing products is expected to reach nearly $14 billion by 2021. The application of the huge and ever-increasing volumes**of satellite remote sensing data is bottle necked by the ability of intelligent computer algorithms to effectively transform the data**into value-added products. The Boeing Company, a massive international company, is in the process of building and deploying a**constellation of hyperspectral satellites that can detect light in many narrow bandwidths which captures hundreds of different**images for one scene. Manual processing of this data is not feasible and automated approaches are in demand for realistic**throughput of the volumes of hyperspectral data expected.**Given the lack of software tools capable of accurately extracting valuable information from hyperspectral imagery, the challenge of**this project is to develop advanced computer vision algorithms that can effectively and efficiently perform this task. This project,**therefore, aims to develop fast, accurate and advanced image processing algorithms that are tailored to the characteristics of**hyperspectral imagery. This will greatly expand the use-cases and applications of satellite remote sensing data, enlarge the**satellite remote sensing market with various new business models and customers, and create tremendous opportunities and**growth for commercial remote sensing companies.
