Dynamic Safety International is an innovative manufacturer of safety equipment (e.g. helmets, hearing**protection, glasses, harnesses...). Due to the high demand for their products, they are increasing their**manufacturing capabilities through process automation. They are currently facing a problem regarding the**automation of a critical step for the manufacturing of their energy absorber device used in worker fall**protection. The current process involves sewing thick polyester woven webbing straps with an industrial**sewing machine. This sewing step is time consuming and requires a lot of manual intervention from workers.**In this project, we propose to change the way in which the webbing straps are attached by welding them. Two**welding processes, ultrasonic welding and resistance welding, will be used to that end. The processes will be**evaluated based on their capacity to be automated while meeting all industrial requirements in terms of**mechanical performance.
