Efficient and sustainable energy supplies are essential to the prosperity of Canadian*economy. Presently, pressures to meet international goals for climate-change*mitigation, combined with local needs to satisfy increasing energy demands and meet *environmental regulations, represent Canada's greatest challenges in managing energy*systems. The objective of this CRC program is to develop a set of spatially-*distributed energy-and-environmental systems-analysis and risk-management*methodologies and apply them to multiple Canadian regions. The results will help*reveal complexities in energy-and-environmental systems and obstacles that hinder*sustainable energy development. Thus, scientific bases can be provided for formulating*desired policies that are of enormous socio-economic implications.*
