Romaeris Corporation is developing long-range cargo drones to serve remote, isolated communities in Canada**and other countries worldwide. The basis for the drone design is flex-wing, tailless ultra-light aircraft that**utilize weight-shift control. In this type of aircraft, the entire wing acts a control surface and is tilted**side-to-side or pitched forward or rearward on a joint that connects to the rest of the aircraft hanging below. To**maintain structural strength, the horizontal control bar below the wing is rigidly attached to the wing with solid**tubing and the whole arrangement is part of the structural integrity of the wing. The structure is designed for**piloted flight and poses severe space limitation for cargo transport. The proposal is to conduct valuable original**research on actuated weight shift control systems to raise the control bar to open space for cargo when the**human pilot is removed and replaced with fully automated systems and payload.
