I am the leader of an international collaboration of physicists seeking to measure a fundamental property of neutrons: the neutron electric dipole moment (nEDM). If the nEDM is non-zero, it would signify a violation of a symmetry of nature: time-reversal symmetry (T). A small amount of T-violation is already present in the standard model of particle physics, but new sources of violation are believed to be necessary in order to explain the predominance of matter over antimatter in the universe. The nEDM search is therefore one of the highest science priority experiments in the field of neutron physics.*
