英文摘要
Movement precision is ultimately determined by the resolution of the motor circuit at the level of single neurons and synapses. However, other factors such as muscle quality/quantity and joint flexibility also affect locomotion. In addition, current synaptic labeling techniques in most organisms do not have enough resolution to distinguish synapses between neighboring neurons. Hence, it is not clear to what extent the fineness of the motor circuit determines physical ability. Using a genetic model organism Caenorhabditis elegans, which has a simple locomotion circuit, I will study molecular mechanisms of synapse patterning and how it affects locomotion.
