项目摘要

Tanka is a Canadian-based company that has developed products and services which apply modern**high-volume satellite sensing and imaging to detect and track forest fires as they arise globally, offering**competitive advantages over more traditional ground-based sensor and observer approaches. Tanka is seeking**to more rigorously assess the robustness, optimality, and completeness of their existing data analysis**approaches and methods, particularly relative to better servicing emerging global-scale market opportunities.**The goal of this Engage program is to develop the statistical analysis methodologies and approaches required to**address the above robustness, optimality, and completeness questions while also identifying and creating the**reference data sets required to allow Tanka to incorporate enriched testing and validation within their**development and production processes. This Engage research will facilitate systematic comparisons of both**existing algorithms and approaches as well as future Tanka fire detection and tracking methods and**technologies, while also enabling and fostering significant advantages relative to Tanka's technology and**process advancements and their competitive positioning within the global forest fire detection and tracking**marketplace.
