Forest management planning towards an integrated forest value chain: Hardwood forest case

The aim of this research program is to contribute to forest management planning practices in an innovative**way, in hardwood forest context in particular, by combining mathematical programming, sylviculture and value**chain optimization concept.**We propose a new mathematical model to support forest management planning in a collaborative strategic**approach.**We will use large-scale industrial case with a real forest and a real industrial network located in the region of**Outaouais including Lauzon Company and other stakeholders of the region. We will compare the proposed**integrated approach with a non-integrated approach and show gain in profit could be achieved when planning is**conducted in an integrated approach. An integrated approach means one company (one-business unit holding**multiple facilities) will manage the forest management units and allocate the right wood to the right facility to**satisfy its requirements where the non-integrated approach represents the current practices where each company**manages a small part of the management units and some wood exchanges are done on adhoc manner.
