英文摘要
Biodiesel is an environmentally friendly fuel which can be produced from treated used cooking oil (UCO). UCO treatment involves**the removal of impurities from UCO. Removal of impurities increases the quality of the UCO and of the biodiesel produced with it.**Also, the treated UCO used for biodiesel production must be free of toxic substances (e.g. toluene and benzene). Toxic**substances in the UCO may be found in the biodiesel, and their presence is not desirable because biodiesel is an environmentally**friendly fuel. Walker Industries removes impurities from the oil by adsorbing them onto dispersed water droplets. The proposed**project will improve the removal of impurities from the UCO by using additives that promote their sorption onto small water**droplets, while limiting the volumes of water used. The proposed project will also prevent the formation of benzene and toluene**during the UCO treatment. This goal will be achieved by controlling the treatment temperature to avoid UCO degradation and by**eliminating free radicals, which can catalyze the formation of toluene and benzene.
