Spectral theory is the key to analyzing so-called linear systems, which abound in natural sciences, engineering, economics and computer science. Complex analysis is a far-reaching extension of the differential and integral calculus, applied to functions of a complex variable. The goal of the Canada Research Chair in Spectral Theory and Complex Analysis is to develop the techniques of complex analysis needed to solve problems in spectral theory, with a view to eventual applications to high-performance computation and other fields.
