Process to prepare pendant amine containing polymeric products

PPA (PolyPendant Amines) are amine containing polymers that have a broad range of applications ranging from anti-microbial materials to adhesives that can bind layers of incompatible polymeric materials together. A recent breakthrough in the catalytic addition of amine functionality to olefins has allowed for a cost, time and Green Chemistry approach for the synthesis of amine functionalized polyolefins. This class of material is polypendant amines (PPAs). Related published research from our group has shown that the properties of these amine containing materials is readily modified using the same catalytic approach with slightly modified starting materials. Using this approach amine functionalized polyethylene can be prepared. This proposal seeks to complete a market assessment to identify commercial opportunities for these this new class of materials.**
