英文摘要
Common polyolefins that are amine functionalized at one end can have a broad range of applications as additives or coatings for commercial plastic products. These amine functionalized polyolefins show potential for use in the preparation of anti-microbial materials to adhesives that can bind layers of incompatible polymeric materials together. A recent breakthrough in the catalytic addition of amine functionality to olefins has allowed for a cost, time and Green Chemistry approach for the synthesis of amine functionalized polyolefins. Related published research from our group has shown that the properties of amine containing materials can be readily modified using this catalytic approach with slightly modified starting materials. Using this approach amine functionalized polyethylene can be prepared for the modification of surfaces. This proposal seeks to complete a market assessment to identify commercial opportunities for these this class of materials that can be prepared using Green Chemistry.
