Software is an integral part of people's daily lives, thus demanding dependability. *This program will produce novel and high-quality theories and approaches to study, *predict, detect, and fix software bugs to dramatically improve software dependability. *It will have tangible outcomes and impacts which include advancing the state of the *art in software dependability research, and reducing the cost of software development, *benefiting all computer users and software companies. It will also improve people's *lives by reducing the frequency and impact of software failures, which will make work *and recreational use of software more enjoyable and productive.
