The objective of this project is to determine optimized design criteria to upgrade or retrofit water resourcerecovery facilities (WRRFs) using a Salsnes filter (SF; which is a rotating belt filter, RBF), a drum filter (DF)or a combination of these. The process performance will be determined by comparing the physical, chemicaland biological characteristics of raw wastewater and of the liquid and solid streams generated by a primaryclarifier (PC), an SF, a DF and their configuration in series.
