英文摘要
Recent biomedical advancements are revolutionizing the way we approach patient health. However, the exorbitant costs associated with many protein-based laboratory reagents limit the rate of progress in biomedicine. This is particularly true for regenerative medicine research, where access to cytokines, antibodies and growth factors is hampered by the extremely high market price of these reagents. We have created an automated cell-free protein manufacturing platform that can rapidly produce and purify proteins, including cytokines, antibodies and growth factors, at any scale and within a few hours. This is in contrast with current cell-based technologies that could take weeks to express and purify a desired protein, and that require large upfront investments regardless of scale. Our automated cell-free manufacturing platform allows just-in-time production and agile scaling, which significantly minimizes our capital and inventory costs. This, in turn, means that end users can have access to a large library of laboratory reagents such as cytokines, antibodies and growth factors at a fraction of their current market price. It also means that they can readily modify their desired proteins with fusion tags (e.g. for purification or fluorescence) that suit their specific experiments and protocols. This is an application for an I2I Market Assessment grant. The goal of this Assessment is to reach out to the industry and potential customers to identify customer needs and target markets. This will help inform and articulate our value proposition, which will allow us to optimize our market entry strategy for successful commercialization of our technology.
