英文摘要
Golden Eagle Sablefish Inc. and my lab at UVic will collaborate to identify microsatellite loci (polymorphic genetic markers) suitable for sablefish parentage analyses. Suitable loci are those that collectively produce a unique multi-locus genotype for each individual in each brood stock population. Then we will survey progeny at three different stages of development to estimate the contributions brood stock individuals to the F1 generation, and to look for correlations between genotype and fish health, growth and survival in the hatchery. These data will form the basis of the first sablefish selective breeding program in Canada.
