Exercise programs are the pillar of rehabilitation protocols for people suffering from multiple chronic diseases as well as those recovering from musculoskeletal injury or surgery, such as knee or hip replacement. The exercise programs are often designed to improve mobility via improving joint range of motion by the practice of basic movements such as hip abduction, hip extension, knee raise, and squat. Innovative solutions to transfer of clinical instruction to patients, and ensuring they follow these instructions, would reduce the burden on the healthcare system and improve patient engagement. ForaHealthyMe Inc. has developed Computer Vision-enabled range of motion protocols for post-operative patient rehabilitation and remote care support. The software is programmed to track human joints and joint angles in a virtual 3D environment. For patients who have undergone and are recovering from hip or knee replacement, FHM's proprietary Avateering System uses a camera to track 25 skeletal joints, with a focus on the arms, legs, and torso. The problem is that the current Activity model is rigid and unresponsive to variation in user mobility leading to the possibility of a high rate of failure in completing prescribed activities. The solution is, we propose, an Adaptive Activity with Range of Motion Model (AARoM) which addresses the shortfalls of the rigid activity model using a range of motion model and artificial intelligence (AI) to modify activity completion parameters. The company requires valid field-based testing and objective as well as subjective validation and relevant user feedback in the correct setting and from the correct population.
