Dr. Mark Mallorys research program at Acadia University focuses on the environmental health of coastlines from Arctic and Maritime Canada, with particular attention on the connectivity between terrestrial and marine habitats. Marine birds, excellent indicators of environmental health, are the focal research group, and provide insights into the effects of contaminants (like mercury and plastics), climate change and human activities on our wild places. The research program is highly collaborative, involving universities, governments and industry, and there are strong linkages with international researchers. These research activities are key to meeting many of Canadas research and monitoring obligations, most notably in the Arctic.
