Inversago Pharma is a biotechnology company specializing in the development of new types of inverse agonists and antagonists of the cannabinoid type 1 (CB1) receptor for the treatment of several metabolic disorders such as diabetes (type II) in a more targeted way and therefore, causing fewer side effects. The company wants to perform efficacy and safety tests on this type of molecule by positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in order to market them, but to do this, Inversago Pharma must first find a way to synthesize a radiotracer for a better validation. For radioprotection reasons, complete automation of radiotracer synthesis is mandatory. A dedicated synthesis unit is also essential to avoid contamination and to reproduce optimal reaction and purification conditions. The research team of Pre Guérin therefore proposes, within the framework of this project, to design and build a synthesis unit or box in which all the stages of the radiotracer synthesis can be performed in an automated way while respecting both the radiation protection standards and the needs of the partner.
