Every ship ages, from container ships to FPSOs (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) and from dredgers to offshore support vessels. They are all facing the same law of time i.e., time is damaging quality of every ship and any of its core parts. A refit, as the process of maintaining vessels in compliance with the latest regulations, is critical for minimizing cost, guarding safety and ensuring sustainability. Examples of maintenance are as simple and basic as dry dock maintenance such as cleaning, painting, drying, installing new furniture, to more complex tasks such as removing old equipment or installing new electricity or telecommunication equipment. In such an endeavour, high-qualified and high-cost labour such as programming, heavy equipment mechanic, welding, seamstress or pipefitting are required. Associated equipment with low availability such as crane or dry dock are also required.
