Signalisation Kalitec Inc. is a Quebec company operating in the road signage and dynamic urban signage industry. Following a feasibility study conducted by C2T3 in collaboration with Kalitec on the development of a traffic violation detector at pedestrian crossings, Kalitec now wants to move on to the physical realization of a prototype. To do this, an NSERC RDA2 grant application is submitted to help the company develop this prototype with C2T3 expertise. In fact, Kalitec wants to develop an innovative technological product that consists of a dynamic traffic sign supported by embedded video software, specialized in traffic analysis to collect, monitor and analyze traffic data in real time and support intelligent transportation solutions. The innovative aspect of the product stems from the intelligence distributed in each of the signage panels, in the form of video analysis microsoftware, which makes it possible to process useful data at source, adapt signage according to traffic data, reduce the costs of cell relay and information processing by teams of responders. For Kalitec, this project will set it apart from the competition with a cutting-edge solution in the market for transportation intelligence, road safety and urban planning, while having economic and social benefits, training and hiring new staff and promoting sustainable development.
