Canada Research Chair in Exoplanet Astrophysics

The next phase of exoplanet research is understanding the growing knowledge of the composition and structure of both the atmosphere and interior of planets outside our solar system; are these planets scaled down versions of Neptune or scaled versions of Earth? or of a completely different nature? State of the art facilities available to the Canadian community will be used to measure the mass, radius, atmosphere, incident flux, composition and evolution of transiting extrasolar planets. The main objective of the program is to measure, compare and interpret fundamental properties of extrasolar planets to determine the diversity of exoplanets.
