Logistics aims at improving and optimizing production, inventory control, and the flows of products and information from origins to destinations. It encompasses several interconnected and integrated activities such as forecasting, production, inventory control, transportation and warehousing. The scientific program of the CRC in Integrated Logistics is centred on the development of innovative methodologies and on the resolution of new and complex integrated logistics problems. This research program questions some established research paradigms and proposes new lines of research through the development of new mathematical models and solution algorithms for different problems arising as combinations of existing fragmented research topics.
