Since July, 2006, when the Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Marine Natural Products was awarded, Dr. Russell Kerr has led a research program that develops a unique niche in marine natural products, combining microbiology with natural products chemistry and involving a range of collaborations to advance the discovery and development of natural products for human and animal health and wellness. Kerr has raised over $11M in funding, grown a research group to 25 trainees, published over 30 articles, and given 41 invited talks at major conferences; his research program has also generated two patent applications and a successful start-up company.
