The CRCs group will focus on the conceptualization, design, development, and implementation of new strategies for producing polymer-based micro- and nanostructured materials with advanced properties. The research program is centered around three research theme and 11 projects, which embrase the areas polymer materials science, nanoscience and microfluidics, and includes fundamental and application-directed research. Examplary applications of the materials to be developed include early cancer diagnostics and creation of microenvironments for cell studies. The proposed research is of benefit to Canada and is integral to the U of T's Strategic Research Plan in the Science and Technology and Health and Life Science themes.
