In response to industry demand, this submission proposes the purchase of equipment ($150,000) to create a Metrology Lab to support the application of measurement in advanced manufacturing processes. The Metrology Lab, to be located in Selkirk College's state of the art Silver King campus, will be complementary to Selkirk College's recently launched $2 million NSERC-funded advanced manufacturing Innovation Enhancement research program and related research infrastructure valued at $500,000. The Metrology Lab will also complement existing industry trades programs, as well as a new Digital Fabrication and Design program at Selkirk College. The proposed equipment is also complementary to Selkirk College's proposed advanced manufacturing focused Technology Access Centre. Industry partners, including D-Pace who have recently co-located on the Silver King campus, have asked specifically for the establishment of a Metrology Lab to support the expansion of college-industry projects.
