This proposal outlines a research program to improve the performance of complex engineering aerospace systems through advances in mathematical and computational models, and experimental methods that incorporate multidisciplinary analysis and design optimization for the synthesis of optimal designs. The primary objective is to connect fluid-structure interaction dynamics models and enabling materials and sensor technologies with new designs and concepts of operations to achieve Leaner, Greener and Safer Transportation.
