The research program proposes to improve performance of complex aerospace engineering systems through advances in computational and experimental methods and connect emerging mathematical models and enabling technologies with new designs and concepts of operation for Greener and Safer Aviation. The program will exploit the knowledge, expertise and experimental facilities in 'design, build, test and fly' of Autonomous Air Systems (AAS) to buttress the design and development of novel hybrid-electric propulsion (greening) and artificial intelligence based Sense and Avoid (SAA) technologies (safety). The proposed methods and processes are both leading-
edge academically and balanced for potential application in Urban Air Mobility.
