英文摘要
Social interactions occur within groups. For example, feeding, fighting, and reproductive behaviours often occur at a time and place for gathering. Studies on a diverse set of species have shown that such group dynamics occur in species-specific patterns. But so far, these patterns are determined by unknown mechanisms. There is increasing evidence that social networks display features that rely on innate mechanisms. Dr. Levine has taken an innovative approach to studying social interactions in Drosophila. As a Tier I Canada Research Chair, his lab will identify and characterize cell and molecular mechanisms that underlie innate patterns of social interaction.
