As a Canada Research Chair, I will answer key unsolved problems in astrophysicsthrough innovative approaches to large data-sets. I will use radio polarimetry toperform a definitive study of how magnetism in the Universe has evolved with time,and will carry out a novel census of the changing sky to provide new probes of extreme physics in the cosmos. I aim to not only make fundamental new discoveriesabout the Universe, but to demonstrate the viability of experiments planned for theSquare Kilometre Array (SKA), a multi-billion dollar project that promises enormousscientific, economic and engineering opportunities for Canada.
