The industrial stream CREATE Training Program in Mass Spectrometry-Enabled Science and Engineering (MS-ESE) brings together ten of Canada's leading academic researchers and seven of Canada's most successful companies in an unparalleled graduate curriculum centered on new technologies that are rapidly becoming the backbone of industrial research and development. The program has been designed, in consultation with our industrial partners, to graduate HQP with the technical and managerial skills most needed for leadership in industry, government and academia.MS-ESE leverages a large network of industrial, government and academic partners in order to provide maximum enrichment of the learning experience for program trainees. Trainees will conduct research in one of the four MS-ESE research themes: Instrument Development / Gas-phase Ion Chemistry, Bioanalytical, Imaging / Environmental Analysis and Proteomics. The principle features of the program are:(i) Industrial Internship Program (IIP): (Compulsory) Graduate-level trainees will spend a minimum of 6 (MSc) or 10 (PhD) months in an industrial internship hosted by one of our 7 industrial partners. (ii) National and International Internship Programs (NatIP) and (IntIP): Trainees will have access to world-leading laboratories and training in the very latest, cutting edge techniques through an established network of academic and government leaders in MS-enabled research.(iii) Summer Workshops: Trainees will participate in two annual summer workshops, one focused on soft skills and MS in industrial research, and one on new horizons for MS-based science in academia.Ultimately, the program will graduate HQP with superior industrial and applied-academic research expertise, ready to meet the scientific and engineering challenges of Canada's new research landscape.
