CRC in Geomatics Multi-sensor Systems (GMS)

The past two decades have witnessed an explosive demand for geospatial and location data. While this demand has numerous sources and takes many forms, however, the net effect is an increasing need for data that is more accurate, has higher density, is rapidly produced, and acquired less expensively. A transformational to geospatial data acquisition is the use of Geomatics Multi-sensor Systems (GMS) that integrate various positioning, navigation, remote sensing, and wireless technologies. The overall objectives of this CRC multidisciplinary research program is to advance the theory and applications of GMS systems through the deployment of cost-effective sensing technologies made possible through the development of new fusion techniques and new GMS systems for mapping and navigation applications.
