英文摘要
The prevention of groundwater contamination at landfill and mining sites is a critical environmental issue. The proposed research is unique in combining modeling and experimental data to investigate all components of the barrier system and their interactions to provide new fundamental insights into long-term performance and service life of single and double composite liner systems. The findings will provide new guidelines for the design of barrier systems for landfills and mining applications and influence the next generation of Canadian/International regulations to better ensure long-term environmental protection.
