英文摘要
Microfluidics has many potential applications among which the most exciting are in the areas of medical and environmental diagnostics, assays for drug discovery, and in construction of artificial organs. This research program is aimed at using microfluidic and microfabrication technologies to develop environmental sensors to monitor water quality in remote areas, medical sensors to assess severity of sepsis for patients in the intensive care unit, assays using organisms such as worms and flies to understand disease mechanisms and develop new drugs, as well as artificial organ constructs to assist with oxygenation of blood.
