The proposed research program will i) further develop advanced nano-metrologies based on novel scanning probe microscopy probes for the non-invasive, high-resolution, multi-modal nanoscale-imaging and characterization; and ii) synthesize novel nanomaterials for chemical sensing, delivery, and treatment/detoxification applications. This program will provide training for highly qualified personnel in the emerging field of nanoscience and technology and cover aspects ranging from fundamental scientific research, the translation of research results, and further development of applicable technology for the academia and industry. The technical know-how, newly generated intellectual properties, and well-trained manpower will add new strength to several industrial sectors in Canada.
