The Canada Research Chair in Sustainability focuses on improving air quality and mitigating climate change in an increasingly globalized, urban world. The effectiveness of policy decisions and new technology on air quality and climate outcomes is often difficult to quantify using laboratory-based research, which often poorly represents real-world behaviour. My research uses real-world multi-scale air quality monitoring to quickly and quantitatively assess the impact of our policy decisions and technologies on air and climate outcomes. The data collected can also be extrapolated to city and regional-scale systems to forecast the impact on air and climate outcomes.
