This theme focuses on the security aspect of high-frequency wireless communications directly at
the physical layer of the data exchange process.
With this exciting theme, we will combine innovative ideas in active microelectronics, such as the
use of "microelectromechanical systems" (MEMS), with the generation and detection of terahertz
(THz) waves by non-linear effects in addition to deep signal processing. By developing innovative
active THz emitters, detectors and routing optic devices (i.e. the physical layer security), we will
also pursue novel ultrafast THz sensing methods based on computational methods.
