项目摘要

With support from NSERC, Camosun Innovates is entering into a 2-year partnership with MarineLabs DataSystems Inc. and Harbour Air. Camosun Innovates is a focal point for applied research, manufacturing, social innovation and sport innovation that enriches the interdisciplinary education of Camosun students. Byproviding access to a sophisticated suite of intellectual, technology and manufacturing assets, they driveinnovation, create effective business solutions and spearhead beneficial social advancements. MarineLabs is a world class technology company, based in BC, who provides real-time domain awareness from fleets of their compact, cloud connected, CoastScouts. They currently operate CoastScouts off North America's East andWest coasts and can convert any of Canada's 11,000 floating navigational aids into real-time ocean data hubs. Harbour Air is a global leader in float plane operations with more than 40 aircraft, operating 30,000 flightsdelivering over 500,000 passengers per year, with 11 scheduled destinations in BC. Harbour Air use allpossible marine and aviation weather information to transport passengers safely and efficiently. However, thereis a lack of available data to support operations. The project goal is to develop and demonstrate a real-time fog and visibility system, built on the MarineLabs CoastScout platform, that improves safety in coastal aviation. If successful, the VIS data will be rolled out along with planned CoastScout deployments in the Pacific, Atlantic, and wider markets as part of the MarineLabs commercial offering. The project will propel MarineLabs forwardwhile stimulating the expansion of their workforce, providing stable clean-tech jobs for Camosun Collegestudents.
