The St. Lawrence College of Cornwall, Ontario and Lorama Group of Mississauga, Ontario have entered into a strategic partnership in order to combat the noxious wild parsnip that many Canadian municipalities invests substantial resources to manage. Wild parsnip is an invasive, non-native species to Canada which contains saps that can lead to burns and potentially blindness. This research project, which will be led by Envrionmental Technology researchers from St. Lawrence College's Cornwall campus will investigate a novel way of disrupting the growth of wild parsnip and promote the growth of less noxious plants. Together with Lorama, the two organization will trial various formulations ot understand the optimal deisgn to reduce the growth and spread of wild parsnip in Canada and globally. Additionally, the team hope to reduce the cost of controlling this invasive plant. About Lorama Group. While typically involved in the additives and colourants of Paints and Coatings, Lorama is diversifying it's portfolio of product offerings by leveraging is years of ecperience in the bio-based chemical production industry to address other Canadian and global changes. About St. Lawrence College Applied Research. Established in 2006, St. Lawrence College has been assisting industrry in the manufacturing and production spaces improve and optimize their production processes and product offerings. Researchers in the Applied Research department have helped more than 100 Companies in Eastern Ontario and Canada to iprove the way they operate and manufacture their products.
