英文摘要
The research team at St. Lawrence College and MacEwen AgriCentre of Maxville Ontario, have developed apartnership to develop a novel fertilizer geared at promoting perennial grasses while simultaneously treatingagainst annual and perennial broad leaf weeds.Every homeowner wishes to have that lush golf green lawn. However, the struggle of keeping up with annualand perennial broad leaf weed removal is a daunting task. With the reduced availability or even thenon-availability of specific herbicide compounds, the struggle is real. Currently, short of physical removal, homeowners in Ontario are left with using iron-based herbicides or other non-lethal remedies such as vinegar. They simply do not work.MacEwen AgriCentre, a leader in providing fertilizer solutions, has identified the opportunity to develop anovel, proprietary fertilizer product to address these limitations. The company intends to use the researchproject's results to refine and commercialize a green chemistry fertilizer for treatments of residential lawns. This project aims to look at the impact of various compositions and application rates on annual and perennialbroad leaf weeds control. Additionally, the project will also look at environmental spatial impacts by assessingvarious lawn compositions against the proposed formulations. This joint research project will focus on the efficacy of various fertilizer formulations as applied to residentiallawns. The results of this project will position MacEwen AgriCentre to disrupt the residential weed controlsector and provide a green alternative to commonly used, inefficient herbicides.
