In a context of transition to renewable energies and reductions in greenhouse gas, car manufacturers must find new ways to reduce the weight of their vehicles. Several constraints make this task difficult and expensive, but the two main reasons are the difficulty of producing certain complex geometries of metal parts and the limited use of certain harder metals. This problem can be addressed by using two innovations patented at the École de technologie supérieure to fabricate more complex metal parts with any metal material. This project aims to perform an in-depth market study to support the commercialization of a low-pressure metal injection molding process (MIM), which is the basis of this innovation. Thanks to the Lab2Market program, the student Lounes Ouarab will be trained on the world of entrepreneurship and will have access to various resources that will make it easier to approach stakeholders in the automotive industry. This 4-month program will take place in two phases. During the first phase, the student will formulate clear hypotheses regarding the market and the customers to be approached. During the second phase, the student will be able to collect information in the field, from these customers, in order to validate the hypotheses formulated earlier and build a solid business model for the creation of a company. At the same time, L. Ouarab will perform real-scale injections at the ÉTS laboratories (MIM lab of Prof. V. Demers) to demonstrate the concept and benefits in terms of moldability associated with these patented approaches. At the end of these 4 months and following the recommendations of this market study, it is planned to incorporate a company manufacturing MIM metal parts for the automotive industry. Eventually, it is also planned to use the other levers of the NSERC Idea to Innovation program t
